What I Write About
I focus on topics that help businesses communicate better and writers improve their craft. That breaks down into a few key areas:
Content Strategy & Marketing
Professional Writing Best Practices
-
How to create content that actually works for your business. This includes SEO strategy, content planning, editorial calendars, topic selection, keyword research, and figuring out what to write when you have no idea where to start.
I don’t write fluffy “10 tips” posts that regurgitate the same generic advice you’ll find everywhere else. I write tactical, actionable guides based on real experience—the kind of content I wish I’d had when I was building my own business.
-
The craft of writing for business purposes. Website copywriting, email marketing, blog writing, editing, and the strategic thinking that separates content that converts from content that just takes up space.
This isn’t about grammar rules for the sake of grammar rules. It’s about understanding how language choices affect reader behavior, engagement, and business outcomes.
Writing Skills & Improvement
Industry Commentary & Observations
-
Educational content for writers at all levels—from students struggling with essays to professionals who want to sound more confident in their business communication. Voice development, structure, clarity, persuasion, storytelling.
I teach writing the way I wish I’d been taught: with honest feedback, practical examples, and zero tolerance for vague advice like “just be yourself” or “find your voice.” (How? Specifically how?)
-
Thoughts on the writing and content marketing industry, including the rise of AI-generated content, why authenticity matters in business communication, and the difference between writing that serves algorithms versus writing that serves humans.
I have opinions. I’m not shy about sharing them. But I back them up with reasoning and experience, not just hot takes.
Who I Write For
Small Business Owners & Entrepreneurs
Coaches, Consultants & Service Providers
-
You’re running a business and need content that works, but you don’t have time to become a content marketing expert. You value quality, strategy, and results over cheap, fast, or trendy.
You’re tired of content that sounds like every other generic business and want something that actually reflects your personality and expertise. You understand that good content is an investment, not an expense.
-
You have expertise but struggle to communicate it effectively online. You know you need content to build authority and attract clients, but you’re drowning in conflicting advice about what to write, how often to post, and whether you need to be on every platform.
You want strategic clarity, not more overwhelm. You need someone who understands both the marketing side and the craft of writing—and can bridge that gap.
Writers Who Want to Improve
Mission-Driven Organizations
-
Students working on academic writing, professionals who need to sound more confident in business communication, creative writers developing their voice, and anyone who knows their writing could be better but isn’t sure exactly how to fix it.
You’re willing to put in the work. You want honest feedback, not cheerleading. You value craft and are committed to improvement over time, not overnight transformation.
-
Nonprofits, social enterprises, and businesses that genuinely care about more than just profit. You need content that articulates your mission, engages supporters, and drives action—all while staying true to your values.
You’re looking for a writer who understands that your work matters and treats it accordingly.
Why I Write: My Editorial Principles
-
Authenticity Over Performance
-
Strategy Before Execution
-
Substance Over Surface
-
Accessibility Over Exclusivity
- Honesty Over Hype
-
Results Over Vanity Metrics
-
Teaching Over Gatekeeping
-
Craft Matters
I write the way I talk. No corporate jargon, no pretentious vocabulary, no hiding behind buzzwords. If I wouldn’t say it in a real conversation, I don’t write it on this site.
This doesn’t mean unprofessional—it means honest. It means treating readers like intelligent adults who can handle direct communication without unnecessary padding or marketing speak.
Every piece of content I publish serves a specific purpose. It either educates, builds authority, attracts qualified leads, nurtures existing relationships, or demonstrates expertise.
I don’t publish content just to “stay active” or because some guru said you need to post three times a week. Random content doesn’t build businesses. Strategic content does.
I’d rather publish one genuinely useful article per month than churn out daily posts that say nothing. Quality always wins over quantity.
This means I research thoroughly, cite sources when I reference data or industry information, and don’t just make claims without backing them up. If I can’t speak to a topic with actual expertise or experience, I don’t write about it.
Good writing should be accessible, not gatekept behind academic language or industry jargon. I explain concepts clearly, use examples, and never assume readers already know what I’m talking about.
That said, accessible doesn’t mean dumbed down. It means respecting the reader’s intelligence while making sure they have the context they need to understand and apply what I’m teaching.
I don’t promise overnight results, magic formulas, or secret strategies. I tell you what actually works based on real experience—and I’m upfront about the effort required and realistic timelines.
If your expectations are unrealistic, I’ll say so. If your project idea is flawed, I’ll explain why and suggest something better. Brutal honesty in service of your success beats false encouragement every time.
I care about content that drives actual business outcomes—qualified leads, conversions, email subscribers, engagement from your ideal audience. Not just page views, social shares, or feel-good metrics that don’t pay the bills.
This means I optimize for search engines AND human readers. I balance keyword strategy with readability. I create content that ranks on Google and keeps people engaged once they arrive.
I share what I know. I don’t hold back strategies or techniques because I’m worried about “giving away too much.” The more I teach, the more I demonstrate expertise—and the more people trust me when they need professional help.
Knowledge isn’t a finite resource. Helping others succeed doesn’t diminish my own success. This industry has enough gatekeeping. I choose education.
I’m a writer by training and passion, not just by job title. I care about sentence structure, word choice, rhythm, and flow. I edit ruthlessly. I read my work aloud to catch awkward phrasing.
This attention to craft isn’t just aesthetic preference—it’s professional responsibility. Words are my tools. Using them precisely, effectively, and beautifully is the baseline expectation, not a bonus feature.
What You Won't Find Here
Corrections & Updates
I research thoroughly and fact-check my work, but mistakes happen. If you spot an error—factual inaccuracy, broken link, outdated information—please let me know. I take corrections seriously and update content promptly.
When I make significant updates to existing content, I note the update at the top of the article with the date and what changed. Transparency matters.
Accountability
These principles aren’t just marketing copy—they’re commitments. If you feel I’ve violated them in any published content, I want to know. You can contact me directly, and I’ll address it honestly.
I’m accountable to these standards because they reflect the kind of content I want to exist in the world—and the kind of writer I want to be.
Bottom Line:
Every piece of content published here is written with intention, backed by experience, and designed to actually help you—whether that's growing your business, improving your writing, or making better strategic decisions about content. No fluff, no filler, no bullshit.
That's the promise. That's the standard.
